About Us
Artist/animator/producer Kristin Reiber Harris is the creative director of Turtles in Ties, specializing in Spanish and English animated DVD’s and children’s books. She has been working with young children as an educator and artist for over 35 years. Her career as an animator and broadcast designer has spanned over 15 years. Kristin is an active member of Women in Film & Video (DC) and Women in Children’s Media.Some of Kristin’s best friends are four years old. This has had a profound influence on her work. Attracted to the spontaneity of young children and their boundless curiosity, many feel Kristin just never grew up. However, this handicap has not kept her from thriving as a designer, artist and producer even into middle age.
Kristin has produced over 50 short animations, many for HBO Family and HBOL. These animations include a series of 30 preschool science answers and questions and a 10 part series entitled “I Want To Be”.
Her animated shorts have been included in numerous film festivals including the Kalamazoo Animation Festival International, the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, The Museum of Television and Radio’s International Children’s Television Festival in New York and Los Angeles, the East Lansing Children’s Film Festival, the San Diego Children’s Film Festival and Spudfest. The studio has received an iParenting Media Award for “Bees Buzz & Lions Roar/Las abejas zumban y los leones rugen” as well as being endorsed by KidsFirst. “Animal Alphabet” from that DVD received a CINE Golden Eagle Award

Kristin received a National Endowment for the Arts Artists-in-the-School residency grant in 1980 and has been providing programs for elementary school children for over twenty years. Her in-school programs focus primarily on reading and arts. She has also taught animation to elementary school students, teenagers and adults. Kristin can be booked for

Kristin has taught at the Art Institute of Washington and Northern Virginia Community College and is currently teaching in the Art Department at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She volunteers at Elizabeth’s Early Learning Center in Lynchburg, Virginia reading to children and helping them with art projects. She also enjoys playing with the babies.

Kristin Harris is a native Virginian with a BA in Fine Arts from UCLA. Kristin received an MFA from The George Washington University.
